| A Testimonial : Testimonial from one of purchasers, Mr A. Beake. “We were attracted to Northern France by the reasonable property prices, lifestyle and ease of access from the UK. We contacted Steve Turner, and from the property list on the website quickly selected several properties that we wished to visit. Steve Turner provided with Brittany Ferry vouchers, timetable, and an address for us to stay at and importantly an introduction to Steve’s French partners at Success Immobilier. Jill, from Success Immobilier, took us around to visit the properties on our list. The first property we visited when over in France was to be the one we would eventually choose. Having chosen our property, Jill outlined the procedures we would need to follow to complete our purchase. Jill emphasised the differences in French Law, so we were aware that contracts once exchanged are binding. Our property is a 10 acre small holding, which in France means that this type of property must be offered to the SAFA (French Agricultural government body), who have 12 weeks to override the purchase. Jill also arranged for a Notaire (similar to a solicitor who acts for both parties) and a date for a meeting with the Notaire and vendor. A 10% deposit is required for the contacts to be exchanged. We used ‘Foreign Currency Direct’ to obtain the Euros required and also ensure that the deposit arrived at the Notaire on time. Jill attended the meeting with us, the vendor and Notaire; which helped with the language translation. All queries were resolved during the meeting and contracts signed at the meeting. For completion we had to ensure that the balance was sent to the Notaire and attend a final meeting with all parties present.
